"You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it."
-
Albert Einstein

We often feel lost when solutions cannot be found for the challenges we face. It's at this point that our challenges become obstacles that block us from fully living our lives. Unfortunately, time doesn't heal all pain and our anxiety, anger, depression, and fear don't always go away on their own. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, find purpose in your pain, help you alleviate your stress and anxiety, and make more space for creativity, love, and happiness in your life.

Erin G. Amini, MA, LMFT                                                                                                            Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Adults

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Cultural Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, Erin pursued a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology. She earned her Master’s Degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA.

In 2012, Erin continued her clinical interests through her work as an intern at one of the few psychoanalytically-oriented training facilities in California, Valley Community Clinic. There she worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed with bi-polarity, depression, anxiety, OCD, phobias, and personality disorders while under the mentorship and supervision of a number of highly-skilled psychoanalysts in Los Angeles.

In addition to her practice, Erin continued to pursue psychoanalytic training at the Los Angeles Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS). In 2013, she completed the Trauma Studies Program, a course that studies psychoanalytic perspectives on the theory and treatment of a number of different types of trauma such as early developmental trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape, and intergenerational trauma. In 2014, Erin completed the Infant, Early Childhood, and Parent Psychotherapy Program focusing on mental, emotional, and physical development from the peri-natal stage through birth and infancy, as well as personality development throughout childhood and adolescence, development of sexuality and gender identity, and parental and family conflict. In 2015, she completed LAISPS’s Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program focusing on the fundamentals of psychoanalytic theory and technique, primitive mental states, dream interpretation, and working with personality disorders. In addition, Erin has been involved with the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC) and the New Center for Psychoanalysis (NCP) and their many workshops, lectures, and conferences.

Erin has been a candidate at the Psychoanalytic Center of California for 2 years and continues to see adolescents and adults in her private practice primarily servicing the areas around Santa Monica, Brentwood, Culver City, Westwood, Century City, and Beverly Hills. In addition to her general practice Erin specializes in working with personality disorders, relationship issues, and trauma.
